Lee Wang is a seasoned technology entrepreneur and executive with a track record of co-founding and scaling two-billion-dollar technology companies from zero to successful exits.
Most recently, Lee co-founded WeddingWire, Inc. in 2006, where he served as a Board Director, President, and Chief Operating Officer. In 2018, WeddingWire was acquired by Permira Funds and, in partnership with Permira, acquired XO Group (parent company of The Knot, The Bump) from the public markets. Lee led the combined entity for five years, leading the revenue integration of XO Group and overseeing the largest business unit and team at The Knot Worldwide.
Prior to WeddingWire, Lee was Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Parature, Inc. (later acquired by Microsoft in 2014), a pioneer in SaaS customer support software. There, he led efforts to evangelize and transition commercial industries to adopt SaaS solutions. Before Parature, Lee co-founded Blackboard Inc. (formerly NASDAQ: BBBB) in 1998, a global leader in education technology. During his tenure, he held leadership roles, including Director of Global Sales and Regional Director of Asia Pacific and Latin America sales and operations. Blackboard was later taken private by Providence Equity Partners in a $1.64 billion transaction in 2011.
Lee holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Engineering in Operations Research and Finance, both from Cornell University.
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Lee is a proud first-generation Chinese American who immigrated to the United States in 1983. He currently resides in Northern Virginia with his wife, three children, and a goldendoodle. Outside of work, Lee enjoys traveling with his family and staying active through Orange Theory, golf, table tennis, pickleball, and skiing.

- I would really like to live in Rio de Janeiro. I love the landscapes, the beaches, the music, the food, and the people.
What is your guilty pleasure song?
- “Call Me Maybe” – I did an exec music video to this song.
Do you have any passion projects? If so, what is it?
- I’d like to play better golf… It’s a very difficult game for me. (If anyone decides to take some time off… don’t pick up golf.)
What is the best gift you have ever received?
- It was an exciting moment for me when I got accepted to Cornell Engineering. However, my father couldn’t afford to send me there, so I was planning to pass and attend a local California university. My uncle found out about this and decided to help pay for my education at Cornell. I’ve since returned his investment 20x .
If you had to crack a joke during some awkward silences, which joke would you crack?
- Jokes are not my go-to for awkward silences… I usually go with a recent event to spark conversation.
