Build 2026, Read From the Higher-Ed CIO’s Chair
I've been going to Microsoft's big conferences for more than a decade now, and before I dive into what my hot takes are from this most recent iteration, I want to start by acknowledging something...
At Cloudforce, giving back is one of our core values. Through Cloudforce for Good, we put that value into action by expanding access to education, supporting our communities, and empowering the next generation of leaders. In 2025, that commitment came to life through a wide range of initiatives across the Washington region.
Last year’s flagship effort was the BikeMS ride, which took place last September in partnership with Microsoft. A group of determined Cloudforce teammates packed up their bicycles and headed to Ocean City for a 100-mile bike ride from Cherry Hill to Ocean City, New Jersey. The weekend was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and only one, (thankfully), minor cycling crash. It was our most physically demanding Cloudforce for Good activity to datebut the challenge strengthened our commitment to community. Throughout the year , we raised over $47,000 for the National MS Society, a nonprofit organization supporting individuals impacted by multiple scelrosis.
As we prepare for our 2026 flagship fundraiser supporting University of Maryland transfer students, we’re excited to reflect on a year filled with inspiring events and impactful partnerships.
Beyond BikeMS, Cloudforce for Good took on a diverse range of activities in 2025, from sponsoring hackathons and hosting student visits to volunteering in community programs. Whether we were judging at University of Maryland’s Bitcamp Hackathon or assembling Holiday Hope Kits at our National Harbor office, every event was an opportunity to empower, educate, and uplift.
Empowering Future Innovators: Hackathons and Student Events
Supporting the next generation of tech leaders is at the heart of what we do. In 2025, Cloudforce proudly sponsored hackathons and hosted workshops, including:
We also launched the Future Force: Agent Building Bootcamp, a hands-on series designed to spark curiosity and build AI skills among aspiring technologists. Over four days, 16 students and recent grads dove headfirst into building real-world AI agents, applying what they learned to compete for a $5,000 scholarship.
Community Partnerships and Volunteerism: Giving Back Locally
Cloudforce for Good is deeply rooted in community. Throughout 2025, our volunteers rolled up their sleeves to support initiatives that made a real difference in the Washington region:
Inspiring the Next Generation: Educational Visits and Engagements
We love opening our doors to future leaders. Bringing students into our space allows them to experience what it’s really like to work in tech and opens young minds to new career possibilities. This year, we hosted several student groups for immersive learning experiences:
Strategic Partnerships and New Initiatives: Bridging Education and Technology
In 2025, we kicked off an exciting partnership with 3DE Schools by Junior Achievement, a forward-thinking program that equips students to solve real-world business challenges. Through 2026, Cloudforce will collaborate with 3DE students at Surrattsville High School in Clinton, MD, as they tackle authentic business problems, gaining hands-on experience similar to what our consultants do.
Next up for Cloudforce for Good in 2026
Looking ahead, Cloudforce is proud to partner with the University of Maryland to support a leadership program for talented transfer students from Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. As Microsoft’s 2025 Education Partner of the Year, we’re excited to help advance this program, which has transformed the lives of 445 graduates over 20 years.
This April, our work will take center stage at our flagship fundraiser, Investing in Maryland’s Future: An Evening of Impact, taking place at the Capital Wheel on April 9. With a $100,000 fundraising goal, the event will bring our community together to invest in Maryland’s next generation of leaders.
Join us as we make an impact.
